Koungposh is the Kashmiri word for saffron. Saffron is grown in an area called Pampore, which is about 25kms to the south of Srinagar. The quality of the saffron grown in Srinagar has no match in the world. Saffron or Kongposh is said to be the first spice ever used by man. Koungposh is also an auspicious name for girls.
Koungposh is located on the first floor of the southern wing of the property. It is a large room on the first floor over looking the garden. The room is a large room with a size of 17 feet by 12 feet. It has a bay window and gets the morning sun in. The bathroom of this room is 5 by 9 feet
