Dachigam is named after the famous national park of Kashmir. It is located 22 kilometers from Srinagar. The name of the park literally stands for “ten villages” which could be in memory of the ten villages that were relocated for its formation. The park has been a protected area since 1910, first under the care of the Maharaja of Jammu and Kashmir and later under the observation of the concerned government authorities. It was initially created to ensure clean drinking water supply for the city of Srinagar. It was finally upgraded and declared a National Park in the year 1981
Dachigam is located on the first floor of the north wing of the property. It is in the northern corner of the 3 rooms located on the first floor. Dachigam is a newly furnished room with a private enclosure over looking the garden. The room is divided in to 2 parts. The bedroom is a large room with the dimensions of 14.5 feet by 12 feet and the private enclosure is 12 feet by 10 feet. The bathroom of Dachigam is approx. 8 by 9 feet.
